Dr. Collins remembers her sons playing in a basketball league at Banks Street gym and then at the Fort Mill YMCA (before the Indian Land YMCA was built). He played at the beautiful courts at Doby’s Bridge, Fort Mill and Pleasant Knoll Elementary Schools, to name a few and the championship game at Banks Trail Middle School. Her oldest son played intense prep football on the Ann Springs Close Greenway Recreation team.

Oh the days of youth sports AND less busy roads. Doby’s Bridge Road and Spratt Street had a few cars, now they are a bustling community with the attractions like the Comporium Athletic Park and Catawba Ridge Middle and High School (top in South Carolina), and River Trail Elementary School.

Did we mention the Pucker Butt Pepper Company, home of the infamous Ghost Pepper, or Hobos – local Fort Mill favorites.
